Severe Storms Sunday Afternoon

Tomorrow is shaping up to be an interesting late season day for severe weather. Strong storms are anticipated from central Kansas to Minnesota. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted an area in Nebraska and Iowa of enhanced threat. The models have been in good agreement for several days and have pointed at signs for supercells with an attendant tornado threat. In the latest outlook the SPC mentions “an isolated strong tornado can not be ruled out.” A lot can change between today and tomorrow but at this point it looks like we’ll be chasing in Nebraska tomorrow.

Forecast Update

Severe storm chances don’t look too good in the south central Kansas area for the next several days. Some isolated moderate “pop-up” type storms are still possible but the risk of tornadoes would be minimal.
